Mount Dora’s Bowersock Gallery closing after 4 1/2 years

Mount Dora’s Bowersock Gallery closing after 4 1/2 years

by DeVore Design, January 7, 2016

When Cape Cod art-gallery owners picked Mount Dora for the site of a second location in this art-centric town, Steve Bowersock said, “Something about this area just called to us.”

After 4 1/2 years, Bowersock said today the Bowersock Gallery is closing its doors.

“After careful consideration we have decided to close our Mount Dora location” to focus on the flagship gallery in Provincetown, Mass., and other projects, owner/curator Bowersock wrote in an email.

The growth of the Cape Cod gallery and demand for location and demand for Bowersock’s art was “a key factor in our decision. Bowersock will also focus more on its website presence, its Amazon’s online Fine Art Gallery, art shows, pop up exhibits and commercial sales.”

Bowersock also exhibits with the WoodmanShimko Gallery in Palm Springs, Calif., and at White Porch Gallery in Miami.

Gallery manger Michael Senger said Bowersock’s career “requires more hours in the studio and the Provincetown location, more attention and hours. The only thing that changes is we’re running one less storefront so we can concentrate on advancing our online profile.”

The gallery’s final Mount Dora reception, featuring pastel artist Lynne Libby, starts Friday and runs through Wednesday.
