Montrose Street Market bringing new eateries, shops to Clermont

Montrose Street Market bringing new eateries, shops to Clermont

by DeVore Design, October 5, 2018

A new venue opening in downtown Clermont will house 11 eateries and shops hawking everything from locally roasted coffee to essential oils.

The Montrose Street Market will open this winter at 793 W. Montrose St.

Owners Victor Berriel and Patrick Bianchi, the minds behind several other Clermont projects including lounge VP Skytop, were inspired in part by their travels to bring a food hall-esque space to the city. Bianchi cited Borough Market in London and Armature Works in Tampa as examples.

Markets are a great way to create a happening spot that can house a number of businesses in one space. These trendy concepts create energy with their live music and multiple vendors, Bianchi said.

“They’re destination points,” he said.

The 5,000 square-foot space has been completely renovated inside, Bianchi said. It now sports an industrial-modern vibe. The owners are striving to make the building environmentally friendly and plan to recycle.

The space is fully leased with a curated array of vendors. Berriel and Bianchi wanted to ensure the businesses were local and offered something unique. A few are new concepts — or businesses that decided to open their first retail space.

“We wanted to be food for foodies,” Berriel said. “We wanted to be an experience.

“When you go to the market you are going to eat something you can’t find anywhere else.”

Businesses setting up shop at Montrose Street Market include crepery Jour de Crepe, raclette cheese purveyor Morthan Cheese, ice creamery Twisted Flavors Baked Bar, meat-centric Box Grill, oxygen bar One Utopia and Golden Hills Coffee Roasters’ first cafe.

There will be a beer and wine bar as well. Live music and events are in the works.

The business partners live and work in Clermont and hope the market will attract others to the city’s downtown.

“We saw this opportunity to revitalize downtown piece by piece and hopefully encourage other investors to do the same,” Berriel said.
