Orlando ranked #1 city for recreation

by DeVore Design, August 8, 2017

We’re not a bit surprised that Orlando, with its fantabulous entertainment and recreational facilities, has landed at the top of WalletHub’s latest list of best cities for recreation.

The 2017 study (which also included the worst cities in its results) takes into account 44 key metrics that speak to the relative benefits of recreational activities and public spaces across the country. For each city, it examined basic living costs, the accessibility of entertainment and recreational facilities, the weather, and even the quality of parks

Consider neighborhood parks, which according to the study are instrumental to building community cohesion, boosting property values, improving public health, and reducing pollution. In Washington, for instance, close proximity to a park increases a home’s value by 5 percent while the same types of spaces in Sacramento, Calif., result in nearly $20 million in health care savings.
