- It’s important to work on money-making business activities; everything else can be delegated
- Getting deals done is rarely as easy as portrayed on television
- Relationships are the foundation of a strong business
- Working in real estate means you must learn to love problem-solving and ethics
- Words can impact a transaction; they can also keep clients close
- Be patient – deals take time to close
- Recognize that real estate isn’t a “get rich quick” business
- The highest bidder doesn’t always get the deal
- Block out the noise from new, shiny tools that vendors say will improve your business
- Understand that you must actively work to generate leads every day
- Much of your time will be spent on customer acquisition
- You need to document every economic activity, including earnings and commissions
